Australian Horse Breeds

There are quite a few popular Australian Horse Breeds around and the thing to be noted is that these horses were not native to Australia. The first breed that comes to one’s mind is the Australian Brumby. This is a federal horse and is a great survivor as it can survive the onslaught of the harsh Australian terrain. It was first brought to Australia by the early white settlers. The first of these Horses arrived in the year 1788 and then onwards they became a part and parcel of the Australian horses.

The other equally popular horse in this part of the world is Waler and the Australian Stock Horses. These stock horses were supposed to have undergone selective methods of breeding in order to ensure that they come about with the best of breeds. The kind of breed will be sturdy, reliable and more robust to the new Australian landscape that it was going to live in.

The latest count on the Brumbies shows that there are quite a few of them. The majority of these horses can be found in the Northern part of Australia and Queensland. The Stock Horse is an extremely agile and robust creature that has been able to build up a great reputation for itself. It is one of the most versatile of horses and has been able to withstand the march of times really well.

The other Australian horses are the Blazer horse, Castilian horse and the Tiger horse.

The Blazer horse is as close to its European counterpart as possible. It is a horse that is an all rounder and is known to be a good race horse as well as being able to carry out the different tasks that it is assigned. It is a good hardworking horse for amusement and work as well. The Arabian horse is the oldest of breeds of horses.

The next breed of Australian horses is Warmbloods which are quite well known and are used quite often in races all over the world. They are the kind of horses that can perform at really great levels.
